Aloe and Honey Mask.

 Ingredients:
1 Tablespoon of pure Aloe Vera juice or pulp
1 Tablespoon of honey

Prep:
Mix the 2 ingredients together in a bowl. Once blended evenly, allow to sit in bowl for 10 minutes then apply to face and neck (and back if you have acne there as well). Leave on for about 15 minutes then rinse off with warm water and washcloth.

Benefits:
This mask is super easy to make and use and really helps soothe your skin while fighting acne. Anyone who suffers from swelling, irritation, redness, or acne would benefit from using this mask. Aloe Vera, in its natural form, has been known to help reduce pain and suffering from sunburns but many skin care companies have started adding aloe Vera to skincare products because it really does help with skin irritants from acne.
Honey is loaded with anti-microbial properties and is a natural antioxidant. Honey fights microbial infections that cause acne without irritating your skin. Honey also pulls out impurities from your pores that would normally stay clogged, festering bacteria that causes pimples. It will also help restore your skin’s texture and reduce damage done to your skin by the sun and daily environments you come in contact with.

EAR CANDLE by Vedette

Ear Candling
Yes it is true! The majority of people clean their ears almost every day with a Q-tip. Which in reality pushes wax further into the ear canal and after my recent ear candle experience I realized just the same, after seeing my result that clearly ear candling is a necessity; With a 99% EFFECT rating!!!!
Ear candling (also known as ear coning) is a good example of how an almost forgotten, simple and all natural therapy, is now being used effectively to solve many problems associated with the ear and sinuses.  When the body is under stress the flow of energy diminishes until it is totally blocked. You may not be aware of this initially, but eventually symptoms will appear in the body. When this energy becomes blocked in the head area, or when excessive ear wax builds up, you may develop conditions such as stuffed sinuses or sinusitis headaches, earaches, vertigo (dizziness), minor hearing loss, sore throat or coughing, allergies or upper respiratory infections. If they are not cleared, the flow of energy slows down and pain or discomfort usually sets in.
The removal of ear wax is only a minor part of candling. Ear wax is essential to our well-being. It acts as a shock absorber for sound waves, and along with the hair in our ears, it stops dust particles and foreign material that might pierce the ear drum. It is when we have wax build up caused by noise, pollution, dust, etc.; however, that is when problems can arise.  The process that allows the ear candles to work in the base of an ear candle is gently inserted a fraction of an inch into the outer ear canal then the tip of the ear candle is lit. The process is not painful; in fact some people find the process so relaxing that they tend to fall asleep during the candling process.
An ear candle is a hollow paper cone impregnated with ordinary candle wax. The large end is about one inch in diameter. The other end is small enough to go into the ear. As you lay on your side with the candle in place, the end of the candle lighted. The candle burned slowly and smoothly, with some wisps of smoke circulating downward to the small end. There was no discomfort or noticeable warmth.
Therapeutic Benefits of Ear Candling:
  • Circulation of disinfecting substances.
  • Stimulation of the reflex zones and the energy points in the massage by energizing substances.
  • Softening of the plugs of cerumen (wax).
  • Hearing becomes sharper.
  • Sinuses are able to drain and flow freely reducing pressure.
  • Drying of the ear drum area.
  • Balance and rejuvenation of the equilibrium (inner ear).
Indications that Ear Candling may be beneficial to you or your family:
  • Hearing loss caused by presence of secretions that block functioning, as in case of rhinitis, sinusitis, and otitis.
  • Ringing in the ears, buzzing caused by the presence of fluid.
  • Excess of cerumen (wax).
  • Slow lymphatic circulation.
  • Irritation of the ear and of the inner ear.
  • Chronic Sinusitus.
  • Stress and irritability brought on by loud noises.
  • Nerve or hearing loss.
  • Poor balance, due to an off balance equilibrium (inner ear).
  • Circulation problems in the ear.
  • Excessive itching of the ears.

Commonly Asked Questions
Q: What is Ear Candling?
A: Ear Candling is a technique that dates back as far as Biblical times, when hollow reeds from swamp areas were utilize as candles. It has been passed down for many generations by the North and South American natives, (especially the Hopi Indians now located in Arizona), as well as the Egyptian, African, Oriental and European cultures. The process had been basically lost for numerous years, but has come back into practice again and is now being used by a wide variety of people.
Q: How does Ear Candling Work?
A: The burning candle acts like a chimney and draws from the ear. The drawing effect, plus the warmth of the candle relaxes the body, thus giving back to the body the ability to heal itself. Once relaxed, the body starts to function naturally to heal itself, the wax starts to move again, the circulation returns to the whole head area. In the outer ear, we have reflex or pressure points, (the same as in hand and foot reflexology). As we work around the ear area, these reflex points are stimulated by the warmth of the candle and the stimulation of these reflexes can assist in wellness of other areas of the body as well.
Q: Does Ear Candling Hurt?
A: No! There is no discomfort. It is a very relaxing and soothing therapy. Most people nod off to sleep during this treatment.
Q: How long does it take?
A: It takes about 45 minutes. (approx. 20 minutes for each ear)
Q: At what age can an Ear Candling Treatment be performed?
A: this can be done on anyone over 3 years old. One of the main considerations in candling younger children is whether or not they can sit still long enough to perform the treatment.
Q: Who should not be Candled?
A: Anyone who has had any ear, nose, throat or sinus surgery or has had tubes in their ears in the last year. The same holds true of anyone with tumors in the ear, a puncture or bleeding ear drum or any other serious ear conditions.

Simpson tweeted.  In the photo, the singer is sitting with her head placed on a table and holds onto a lit candle -- outfitted with a makeshift wax catcher made from a Papa John's pizza box -- that has been placed in her ear.

LASH EXTENSION BY VEDETTE

I will be discussing the procedure, benefits and answering most FAQ's that most people ask all the time about eye lash extension.  There are many different lashes that people are doing but when making the decision to get this fabulous procedure done make sure that you are going somewhere that is trained, and reputable.  Many people ask me "Why should I pay $100+ on lashes when I can get it done for $25 or $75 somewhere else?"  My answer to them is "You get what you pay for!".  I hear countless stories of individuals who go to untrained lash technician because the cost is low.  They receive a substandard set of lashes that is clumpy, painful, and often damaging to their lashes.  A proper application is an exacting process that takes skill and time.  If the cost is very cheap, you should certainly question the training of the technician as well as the quality of the product   The cost of Eyelash Extension is $250-$600 depending on style and how many lashes are being applied.  I will be discussing thoroughly the benefits and procedure of Individual lash extension.

What type of lashes do we use?

The eyelash extension  that we use at Vedette are semi-permanent eyelash extension comprised of individual synthetic eyelashes that are curved to replicate a natural eyelash.  They are applied to individual eyelash, one extension at a time, for a natural, elegant look to lengthen and add fullness to the existing lashes.  These lashes should only be applied by a professional.  A lot of places offer this service by people that are not professionally train.  We use synthetic because synthetic lashes respond better to wear and tear than other materials.  In addition, synthetics have the least possible chance of allergic reactions with human skin.

What do they look like and how do it feel?

With proper application our lashes look and feel completely real.  Each application is customize to suit the individual.  The lashes move with your natural lashes and as long as you keep up with the touch application, its almost impossible to tell that you are wearing the extension.  The lashes that we use is a replica of an eyelash, it weighs about as much as a natural lash.  You will not notice the addition of the extensions to your lashes and they will not cause your natural lashes to fall out ahead of their natural cycle as other enhancement methods can.

What are the benefits of wearing Eyelash Extensions?

Most woman choose to lengthen their natural lashes while others want their lashes fuller.  The lashes create a younger appearance on many clients.  The Eyelash Extension create the appearance of a brighter, more open and rested eye, thereby creating a more youthful and rejuvenated look.  Above all, the main advantage is how much time you can save during your beauty regime.  You spend less time with makeup; mascara is certainly no longer necessary.

How long do the eyelash extension last?

The look can be maintained indefinitely with refills.  When properly applied, the lashes will remain in place until the natural lash rest to fall out.  This can be as long as two months or more.
  • Natural eyelashes grow in and fall out in cycles (every 60 to 90 days).  People typically shed between 1 and 5 lashes each day, depending on their individual growth cycle.  On shorter natural lashes, this growing and shedding cycle is virtually unnoticeable.
  • With proper care and maintenance, touch ups are typically only needed once every 2 to 4 weeks to replace the lashes that have shed.
How long does the procedure take?

Depending on the number of lashes being applied, it generally takes between 90-150 minutes to apply a full set of Eyelash Extensions.  Touch ups can be done in as little as 15 to 60 minutes.

In this photo:  This is the set up of the procedure.  Client is laying comfortably with a memory foam around the neck on top on a massage bed with a mattress memory foam.  Very relaxing procedure.  99% of the time client falls asleep.

In this photo: This is how it looks when applying the lashes.  The tweezer has one tiny lash and will attach it to a natural lash.

In this photo above: This is a cluster lash extension that people are getting done. Another alternative people are doing because its cheaper but unfortunately these alternatives are damaging their lashes.

In this photo above: This is the synthetic eyelash extensions that we use at Vedette. Very natural looking, light in weigh and safer.

CHEMICAL PEEL- Day 5

Today is the final day of my Chemical Peel.  On the last day you will go back to your Aesthetician and they will remove the remaining of the skin that was not peeled, following a facial with a gentle extraction (if needed) and a milk mask. The milk mask will be left on for 20-30 minutes with a mummy mask. Any further questions or to make an appointment please call us 718-781-5108 or email us info@Vedettedayspa.com. "Beauty is more than skin deep"

In this photo: around my right and left eyes the skin was not ready to be peeled so I left it until it was ready.

Picture of the right side of my face.

Picture of the left side of my face.

In this photo: this is the skin that was peeled.  The skin is thin as a paper napkin.

In this picture: I use milk and other natural plant extractst to make the mask.  This mask helps to soothe, prevent any inflammation, bacteria and of course the milk is a great source of lactic. Great mask for all skin type after a Chemical Peel.

CHEMICAL PEEL- Day 4

Here are some photos from Day 4. My right eye, nose, forehead and a little bit of my neck closer to my jaw line was not ready to be peel. *Note if you peel the skin before its ready to be peeled it will bruise those area and have some irritation but it will go away. (Cases like this when the skin is not ready to be peel, means that the Renewal cream was not being applied enough as instructed.)

CHEMICAL PEEL- Day 2

Second day of my Chemical Peel I knew what to expect. The Chemical Peel mask was applied the same way as Day 1; since my skin was sensitive from day one I immediately started to feel the burning. I needed the fan immediately, the burning feeling went away after about 15 to 20 minutes. The Chemical peel mask was on for 2 hours and then removed. After removing the mask the renewal cream was applied to my face (which will be the cream that will be applied everyday during this treatment). Pictures below are photos during the treatment and after. Check back tomorrow for Day 3.

CHEMICAL PEEL- Day 1

Today I will be discussing Day 1 of my Chemical Peel (Skin Renewal Treatment).  If you are  wondering if a Chemical Peel is for you..

Here are some of the reasons to consider getting one done.
  • Acne (Best treatment for Acne) **If you had 5yrs or more with Acne problem skin then you will need 3-4 Peels to treat the acne**
  • It helps with Cystic Acne
  • Acne Roscea
  • Fine lines
  • Hyper pigmentation (your dark spots will be lighter but it wont go away)
  • Scars (depends how deep the scars are. The deeper the scars then you will need more than one peel)
  • Minimize Pores.
  • If you have dry skin or Oily skin it will help with that as well.

The Contradictions are:
  • Diabetes
  • High Blood Pressure (If its not controlled)
  • Pregnant
  • Nervous
  • Retina-A (after 4mths then you can get it done)
  • Accutane (4-6mths after you will be able to get it done)
  • Alpha Hydroxy Acid (2-3mths after you will be able to get it done)
  • PMS (you can get it done before or 5 days after PMS)

This Chemical Peel I used is 100% Lactic Acid.  Lactic Acid peels the skin slower and its more friendly; its also Doctors and Aesthetician Grade.  The average price for this peel at a dermatologist will start off around $1500; however, at Vedette we only charge $500. If we come to you we will charge you $800.  There are many people that have problems with their skin, such as acne amongest other infections of the skin. For those individuals with acne skin that seeks a cure for thier problem,  should consider having this treatment done. After completing the first peel, three months after you should do the 2nd peel; followed by a facial at least two times a month. Six months after completing the second peel  you should do a facial at least  once a month.  Nine months after completing the third peel you should do the fourth peel and then you can reduce your facials down to at least once a month.  If there are pimples on the skin before treatment, expect an increase of breakouts. The treatment brings to the surface the hidden infections.

One of the side affects of a Chemical Peel will be a 3rd degree burn but the difference is that it will heal and will not leave a burn or scar.  I will post pictures of day one of My Chemical Peel Treatment (Skin Renewal Treatment).

There are other types of Chemical Peel such as:
1. Alpha Hydroxy Acid.  This Peel Removes one cell at a time each application. The side affect is the dehydration of the skin.

2. Gycolic Acid.  This peel is common use.  It contains Sugar cane.  This peel is faster but more irritation.

3. Lactic Acid.  Contains Milk(Natural).  Peels skin slower and more friendly. > This is the one we use at Vedette Beauty & Skin Care Spa.

The Process:
The Chemical Peel (Skin Renewal treatment) is applied very quickly on the face like a mask and applied on the neck if needed.  We apply it fast because once its applied the treatment start its process by breaking down the skin.  For about 4 to 20 minutes the skin will have a slight burning sensation which then we will give you a handheld fan that will cool it down if its unbearable. This feeling will disappear slowly after feeling like a numb-like sensation. This process will be for 2 days for 2 hours.  During the 2 hours the peel will be breaking down  2/3s of the Corneum (first layer of the skin). After the 2 hours we will remove the mask and apply a cream and you will continue to apply this cream during this treatment; this cream helps the peeling of the skin.  Note: Dryer skin takes longer to peel and oilier skin peels faster.

My skin is oilier so my skin will start to peel on the 3rd day.  The more muscles that we use on the face will be the area that will start to peel first; mostly around the mouth area.  I did this treatment because I had a problem with acne but as I got older it started to leave scars.

Before Photo of the left side of my face.

Before photo of the Right side of my face.

After the Chemical peel mask has been applied.

After the Chemical peel mask  has been applied.

Picture after 2 hours once the Chemical Peel mask was removed; my face at this time is a little dark and irritated.

Picture after 2 hours once the Chemical Peel mask was removed.  I will do this for two days (24hours after first application). I felt no pain just a little numb and irritation but bearable.

I hope this help for those who are considering this treatment! Check back tomorrow for Day 2 of My Chemical Peel!
